О!
Why don't people who are easily offended just ignore the offensive aspects of life?
Say, John walked over to you and slapped you on the face hard. Your face was burning, and your ears were ringing.
And when you protested, John said, “Oh my, you’re so easily offended! You should learn to grow some thick skin and ignore the offensive aspects of life and move on.”
You said, “But that’s not just something I can ignore! It’s hurtful and disrespectful!”
John shrugged, “it isn’t for me. I feel perfectly fine. I don’t know why you’re so sensitive.”
You said, “But you slapped me on my face!!!”
John got annoyed, “Stop yelling! You’re being unreasonable. I don’t know why you always have to make things about your face.”
You said, “I made things about my face?! YOU SLAPPED ME!”
John raised his voice, “No, I waved my hand, and my hand accidentally caught your face. It’s not a slap. You’re overreacting. You always have to make things about your face. Stop pushing your face identity agenda! Nobody will slap your face if you don’t wave your face around! Do you know what our problem is? We focus too much on faces. If you stop talking about your face. Your face won’t be an issue.”
While he was yelling at you, he slapped you again and gut-punched you a couple of times. “See, what you make me do? If you ignore the whole thing, none of this will happen.”
John pointed to a bunch of his friends, “You know what, maybe my friends and I will visit your house sometimes. Your house might need a nice burning down.”
You looked at John’s friends, and you recognized faces from the local police force. You took a step back and lowered your head.
John smiled, “See, if you don’t make things about your face, nobody would care. You need to learn to ignore the offensive aspects of life.”
John slapped you again, laughed, and walked away.
A few weeks later, your house got burned down.
But hey, you learned a valuable lesson. Just ignore the offensive things. It’s easier that way. It might not be easier for you, but it’s sure easier for John and his friends.
